Do you miss the old game consoles? Does the rapid evolution of video game consoles make you a little sad as much as it makes you excited? Do you wonder how the game console journey evolved?

It all started with Magnavox’s Odyssey, and while this very first game console may have been revolutionary at the time, its design and feature set was limited, to say the least.

The Odyssey lets players control a blip on their TV set and that’s all. But game consoles would not stop there. The Home Pong was introduced in 1976, and just a year later, the Atari 2600 was released with its killer app: Space Invaders.

Then, in 1983 a Japanese company called Nintendo released the Family Computer, or Famicom for short, providing a third generation of video game consoles and introducing the time when the video game console truly began to have an identity.

This launched a competition between major players like Sega and Nintendo, and eventually Sony and Microsoft, to see who could deliver the best overall experience and that included the best game console.

What happened next with game consoles? Who developed the best, most user-friendly consoles? How did the game console evolve?

In this video, we bring you the answers to all these questions and even let you see how each console, from the very first to the very last, worked.
