Last time on Feed My Curiosity, we looked at the third and fourth generation of video game consoles. Nintendo had released the Nintendo Entertainment System to North America in 1985, which revived the video game industry from the 1983 crash. The next big players in the industry---Sony Playstation and Sega---also entered the fold with their own consoles. The third and fourth gen consoles delivered 8-bit and 16-bit gaming, respectively.

Today on Feed My Curiosity, we conclude our series on the history of video game consoles with our third and last chapter. Consoles become capable of playing 32 and 64 bit games, and eventually we enter the world of 3D gaming. Consoles also begin using CD's over cartridges, bring the world together over online gaming, and popularize virtual reality gaming. Join us today as we explore everything the fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth generations offer!
