Yep, The Big One! Year, that is. Sure, it's still not the best of the best for DOS games but 1992 is, or rather was, a very notable year with an amazing assortment of multi-genre titles released. And from next year onward, most if not all new genres and genre-mashups originated on PC before being propagated to other platforms, and it made PC a de facto gaming benchmark for other systems. Sure, introduction of PS1 few years later temporarily shook the balance of power, but popularisation of 3D accelerator cards a bit later not only restored it, but also cemented PC's place as a powerhouse that it is to this very day. I got carried away, as it's a subject for future videos... :)
